The United States Senate election is going to be held on November 2, 2010, in Oregon along with the Senate elections in 33 other states of USA. During this time, the elections to the United States House of Representatives as well as various other state and local elections are also going to be held.

The candidates

The incumbent US Senator from Oregon, Ron Wyden, who hails from the Democratic Party and was elected through a special election in 1996, won the Democratic nomination in the primary election. He has already served two terms and will be seeking the third this year. Jim Huffman, who is a law professor at the Lewis and Clark College in Portland is the candidate nominated by the Republican Party. James Huffman won the primary over five other conservatives.

However, there is a fair chance of Ron Wyden winning the re-election easily, because Oregon is a state ‘likely Democratic’, and Wyden is quite popular among the people.
