2010 US Senate Election in Oklahoma
|Nominee||Jim Rogers||Tom Coburn|
The 2010 United States Senate election in Oklahoma has been scheduled on November 4th. Republican U.S. Senator Tom Coburn is running for re-election this year for his second term. Tom Coburn, who is a doctor, is both a fiscal and social conservative. He is very popular in the red-state Oklahoma. So, it is likely that he will win his re-election bid this year also. He had won the election in 2004 with 53% of the votes.
However, in November, he has to face his Democratic challenger Jim Rogers, who is a retired professor, and Stephen Wallace, who is a Republican-turned-independent. Wallace has been a candidate in the 2004 Senate race, but fared poorly with less than 1% vote.
However, July polls show that Coburn is modestly ahead with a 40 point lead over his all other challengers.
