The 2010 United States Senate election in Georgia will be held on November 2. The Republican U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson is seeking re-election to a second term.

However, he has no Republican opponents to compete with in the primary elections.

Isakson is going to face Michael Thurmond from the Democratic Party in November. Thurmond is a three-term state Commissioner of Labor since 1998. He was also the first African-American elected to the Georgia General Assembly from his county in 1986. Apart from Thurmond, Isakson will have to challenge one Libertarian and one Independent candidate in the race to senate.

The good news for Isakson is that, he is having a two-to-one lead over Michael Thurmond. He is also pretty ahead of his other competitors.
