Tonder Festival 2016

This event is an annual folk, classical, Jazz, Rock and Blues Festival, held in the city of Tønder in Denmark. It is generally held in the last week of August and was founded in 1975.

What to Expect:

One can expect to enjoy a variety of music genres and acts from all around the world. This festival has grown to become one of the largest music events in Europe.

Over 20,000 people come to Tønder every year, jamming the streets. Famous and unknown musical personalities come and play here – not only to perform but also enjoy music and the lovely atmosphere.

There are ten stages – set up in tents – and the audience gets to choose who they want to see. The tents vary in size to accommodate audiences of 200 to over 2600 guests. Over 20,000 tickets are sold every year – people have to buy tickets for individual shows too. Of the numerous music festivals held around Europe, this one has a cozy and peaceful atmosphere.

Over 2000 volunteers help to organize and run the festival every year. As far as musical artists go, one can experience people from Ireland, Canada, England, the Scandinavian countries, Canada and Scotland. One can also choose from genres like Irish folk music to Nordic musicians to Baltic folk songs.
