TN Nafta Work Visa is specific to Canadian and Mexican citizens. The purpose of visit is for business purposes in a professional capacity on a temporary basis. While the Canadians apply for a TN status and the Mexicans apply for a TN visa.

Length of Stay and Extension For TN Nafta Work Visa Holders:
In the case of Canadians and Mexicans stay is for a period of 1 year. No maximum level fixed. Extension of stay is granted in1 year increments. Canadians renew their TN status either by requesting their employer to file a petition or return to Canada and reapply for TN status. You can work for more than one employer under this visa. Travel under this visa is not restricted provided the professional job, the employer is not changed. Dependents can accompany you under TD visa. Dependents cannot work under TD status. Full time study not allowed under this visa.
TN Nafta Work Visa Holders Whether Qualified to Apply for other Visas & Citizenship:
Permanent residency cannot be applied under TN Nafta Work Visa. For the purpose of applying for a permanent residency the visa status should be change.

In the following cases the TN NAFTA visa application will be rejected where:
- The nature of job applied is either self employment or setting up of business.
- The intention to come to the US is not temporary in nature.
- The consular officer deems it necessary to reject visa based on documents received.
- The job offered is not listed in the NAFTA list of professional jobs.
- You fail to satisfy the eligibility conditions under the TN NAFTA.
- The job accepted amounts to self employment.
