Thanksgiving Day Parade History:
In 1920’s many of the employees of the department store were the first production immigrants. They were proud of their novel American heritage and they want to celebrate US holiday of the thanksgiving with festival type. The annual Thanksgiving Day parade was started by the Louis Bamberger in the year 1924, in New Jersey at store of Bamberger’s and then was transferred to the New York by the Macy’s. The employees marched to flagship store of Macy’s on the 34th street and are dressed in the colourful costumes. Thanks giving day Parade consists of the professional bands, floats and the live animals which are borrowed from Central Park Zoo. In the end of Thanks giving day Parade, the Santa Claus is welcomed in the Herald Square. However, in the Thanks giving day Parade Jolly Old Elf was crown on balcony of Macy’s at 34th Street entrance of the shop and then he was crowned as the King of the Kiddies. The Thanks giving day Parade became so successful that Macy’s declared that it will became the annual event.
The large balloons of the animal shaped which was fashioned by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in the year 1927, replaced the live animal when Cat the Felix balloon made the debut. These Thanks giving day Parade balloons were filled with the air, but from the next year helium was used for expanding balloon. As in the finale of the year 1928 Thanks giving day Parade, balloons were released in the sky where they were suddenly burst. In the following years they were designed with the safety valves which allow them to glide for few days. The address labels were also sewn in the balloons so that whoever found it can mail back the unnecessary balloon. In the year 1934, the first Mickey Mouse balloon was entered in the parade. From the year 1941, the annual festivities were broadcasted on the domestic radio of New York. The novel safety measures were integrated in the balloons in the year 2006 for preventing the injuries related to balloons and the balloon accidents. One of the measures which were taken was the installation of the device of the wind measurement for alerting Thanks giving day Parade organizations from the unsafe conditions which could cause balloons for behaving erratically. The Thanks giving day Parade organizers also implemented the measure for keeping the balloons closer to ground at the time of the windy conditions.
