Saint Patrick's Day, known as Paddy’s Day or St. Paddy’s Day, is a yearly feast day which is commemorated on 17th of March in remembrance of Saint Patrick (circa AD 385–461), the most frequently familiar of patron saints of Ireland.
Saint Patrick's Day is a nationalized festival of Ireland and it is a public holiday in Republic of Ireland and bank holiday in Northern Ireland. It is a communal celebration in Montserrat. In New Zealand, Canada, the United States, Argentina and United Kingdom, Australia, it is usually commemorated but it is not considered a certified holiday.
St. Patrick's banquet day was positioned on universal liturgical calendar in Catholic Church because of the ability of Waterford born Franciscan scholar Luke Wadding in the earlier part of 17th century, though the banquet day was commemorated in the neighboring Irish church from earlier date. St. Patrick's Day is a sacred day of compulsion for the Roman Catholics in Ireland.
