Spinach Festival Day 2017

The history of Spinach Festival Day celebrations can be traced back to the 1930s, when Lenexa was hailed as the “Spinach Capital of the World”. Annual Spinach Festival Day celebration is a fun, family-oriented event that attracts thousands of visitors from all over world.

This year the Spinach Festival Day is scheduled on March 26. People of all ages can participate in the games and activities.

  • Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park hosts the Spinach Festival Day celebrations with music, entertainment, arts and antique vendors, food, a recipe contest, kids’ activities etc. The fun, family-oriented event attracts the crowd.
  • A juried show with all art and fine craft exhibitors exhibiting photos of their merchandise is the major part of the celebration.
  • Hand-made crafts, vintage, primitive or antique vendors will be a part of the show.


The first Spinach Festival was organised by the Winter Garden Chamber of Commerce in1936. The first festival became a grand success and the tradition continued until 1941 when World War II put an end to all festivals. The Spinach Festival got revived after forty years in 1982.
