Snowbombing Festival 2016

Snowbombing is a well-known weeklong festival comprising of winter sports and music. For all snow lovers, this is the best time to enjoy and dive into snow. It includes concerts, parties, chalet-hopping and many more activities to be enjoyed. The excellent feature of Snowbombing festival is that it has the best disc jockeys, performers and snowboarders from across the globe as they all converge here.

Snowbombing festival takes the entire resort to deck it up for the public. Excellent sound system is hired to pump out music and tunes all during the day and night for audiences and masses. An addition of a comedy festival named Altitude is made this year to this festival to give an extra excitement and appeal.

History of Snowbombing Festival

Snowbombing Festival is active since the year 2000 where it was held at a French resort of Risoul. Gradually, promotional activities started by English promoters from Manchester. From 2005, this festival takes place in Tyrolean resort of Mayrhofen in Austria to be recognized as one of the grandeur snow and music festivals of Europe.

Until 2008, this festival incorporated only a DJ and electronic dance music but live acts of indie and rock were soon added to the bill. This fest is so intended to unite winter sports with on-piste and après-ski music artists with themed parties in unique and unusual venues including a pictured igloo village, a forest and a cultural distant alpine farmstead and to enjoy an open-air street party.

When and Where is Snowbombing Festival Held?

Snowbombing festival is held annually in Austrian ski resort of Mayrhofen. Earlier it was held in a French resort of Risoul but since 2005, the venue has been changed to Mayrhofen.

Major Attractions of Snowbombing Festival

Besides enjoying the skiers and snowboarders, the non-participants can enjoy music, party all night and dip in the blanket of snow. Altitude, a comedy show added this year gives an extra touch to the non-participants to enjoy to the core. This show showcases the best of British comedy featuring Andrew Maxwell, Craig Campbell, Rufus Hound, Abandoman, Tony Woods, Mark Walker, Marcus Brigstocke and Terry Alderton which will run upto three nights.

Parties of Snowbombing event include Street Party and Backcountry Party. The latter is a popular one attracting many guests as they are taken to the venue by bus through a 1.5 mile long tunnel in the mountain and then to the valley of Floitental. The groups then reach an ancient 200 year old wooden farmstead that has now been converted into a party place which has various split bars, an amazing sound system, a balcony, stage, minstrel gallery and decks.
