National Tap Dance Day 2016

National Tap Dance Day is observed on 25th of May every year. It is an American art form of dancing.

Origin:

The idea of the celebration of National Tap Dance Day was presented to US Congress in the year 1988 on September 15th. It was signed in the year 1989 on November 7th. National Tap Dance Day is celebrated in many other countries beside America such as Japan, Australia, India and Iceland. The National Tap Dance Day is observed on 25th May on the birthday of Bill Bojangles Robinson in order to honour him for his significant contribution to tap dance.

National Tap Dance Day is celebrated with lots of events and excitement. The events are organized by studios or tap dance groups. Some celebrate this even individually due to the geographical dispersion and also due to the lack of access to wider tap community. Whatever may be the idea, it is always fun to celebrate tap dance. You do it alone or in a group, it is surely going to make happy and you will enjoy every bit of it. So, what are you waiting for? Go and tap your feet and see the magic of tap dance.
