National Goof Off Day 2013

Everyone, well almost everyone has to put in an honest day’s work for their family and employer. Self-employed people have to work on a daily basis in order to make ends meet. Even landed gentry have to put some effort into maintenance of their estate, failing which their property would lose its value and money would be lost. So in short, everyone who is not inherently lazy does an honest day’s work.

But we get carried away and end up being enslaved by our work, proving the old adage “All work and no play make Jack a dull boy” right once again. Hence, everyone needs a break at some time or the other. Out of this need was created a special day which encourages you to goof-off. National Goof-off Day is celebrated on the 22nd of March each year.

Activities on National Goof off Day

  • Perhaps the term “activities” is not appropriate, as this is a day when just the opposite is done.

  • Try to avoid the work which you usually do. This may apply to work at home or at the office. It is all right to go to office and do some work. But once you get into a bit of work, make sure you goof-off. Take a colleague out to lunch or go for a movie.

  • Once you are home, make it clear to your family members what day it is and what you plan to do. Goofing-off is no fun alone, so you can do it along with your family members. You are sure to have lots of fun doing this.

  • On National Goof-off day, make sure that you engage yourself in activities you enjoy but seldom get time to do. For example, you can play video games all day.

  • Another activity is to go on a massive shopping spree. Have lunch outside and perhaps catch up with friends who have not been in touch with you for ages.

  • You can locate friends who work in other organizations and pull them out from work to goof-off together.

Make sure that you don’t get into trouble at school, college or office from goofing-off but make sure to have lots of fun on National Goof-off Day.
