National Blonde Brownie Day 2016

National Blonde Brownie day is an unofficial food holiday in United States. There is no reason behind why this day is dedicated to blonde brownie. Every year on January 22nd, this day is celebrated. As we all know that brownie is like the staple food of people who live in America. There are many kinds of brownies. The normal brownie is dark chocolate in color where as the blonde brownie is a lighter shade of brown color. It is said that light brown sugar is used in the blonde brownie. This is why there is a reason as to why it has got its color.

History of Blonde Brownie Day

There is no proper information of how this stay started and also how the day is being celebrated. There are many misconceptions about this day. One of the biggest misconceptions regarding this day is that, this was the day when the blonde brownie is first cooked.  This is not true as no one knows when was the first time anyone cooked the first blonde brownie.

It has been more than a century since people have started baking brownies. It is difficult to say exactly when it was first baked, as there is no documentation for original recipe that has been made.
In the year 1897, in an edition of Sears Roebuck catalog, the first time somebody spoke about brownies. The recipe which was given in the book is a brownie which was more of a cake texture. The origination of blond brownies was due to the people who were allergic to chocolate. They started to bake blonde brownies with vanilla and butterscotch. It almost looks the same like normal brownies, except they are a little chewy and they have a buttery taste.

How to make Blonde Brownies

For all those of you who like to celebrate Blonde Brownie Day, here is the recipe of blonde brownie for you to make as many as you can eat. To make a blonde brownie you need-

All purpose flour – 2 cups
Baking powder – 1 tablespoon
Baking soda – ¼ tablespoon
Salt – 1 teaspoon
Packed brown sugar – 2 cups
Butter or margarine – 2/3 cups
Eggs(slightly beaten) – 2
Vanilla – 2 tablespoons
Chocolate chips – 1 cup
Chopped nuts – ½ cup

Step 1 – put the oven to 350 F
Step 2 – Now put the flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder in a bowl and mix it.
Step 3 – melt the butter in a sauce pan and add sugar in it.
Step 4 – Blend in vanilla and eggs into the mixture now. Also add the mixture of the flour gradually into the pan.
Step 5 – Spread the mixture on a pan and spread it proportionally. Also sprinkle the chocolate chips and nuts on the spread.
Step 6 – now bake the spread for 30 minutes and after cooling cut them into bars.
