Grandma's Sugar Cookies
Ingredients for for Memorial Day Food

2 C All-purpose flour, sifted
Memorial Day Food - 1 C Sugar
- 2 T Milk
- 2 Eggs
- ½ C Margarine, softened
- ½ t Salt
- ½ t Lemon zest
- 1 t Baking powder
- ½ t Baking soda
- ½ t Nutmeg
Method for Memorial Day Food
Heat the oven to 375F before cooking. Cream the margarine with the lemon zest, nutmeg, sugar, eggs, and enough salt. Sift the flour by the baking soda and baking powder. With food-mixer on low rate, slowly add flour mixture to sugar mixture. Add the milk and mix up well. Drop by tablespoons on a greased cookie piece. Squash cookies by stamping with a cookie press or base of a drinking glass. Add cookies with granulated sugar. Cook in the oven at 375F for 10 to 12 minutes. Make about 3 dozen cookies.

Cole Slaw
Ingredients for for Memorial Day Food
- 1 Head cabbage, shredded
- 2 Carrots, peeled and shredded
- 1 Small white onion, grated
- ½ C Buttermilk
- ¾ C Mayonnaise
- 3 T Apple cider vinegar
- 1 T Sugar
- 1 t Salt
- ½ t Freshly ground pepper
- ¼ t White pepper
Method for Memorial Day Food
Mix the cabbage, carrots and onion in a big bowl or heavy-duty synthetic bag and store at a low temperature. Whip together left over ingredients to make a smooth dressing; store at a low temperature. About 30 min before serving mix the dressing with the cabbage blend and toss.

Grilled Corn on the Cob
Ingredients for for Memorial Day Food
- 8 Medium ears corn, husked and desilked, with ends trimmed
- 8 T Butter, at room temperature
- ½ T Seasoned salt
- ½ T Freshly ground black pepper
- Merge butter, salt and pepper, and mix well.
Method for Memorial Day Food
Center all ear of corn on a square of big aluminum foil. Liberally extend surface of ears of corn with butter blend. Fold in ends of aluminum foil and revolve up ears of corn. Corn may be located on the grill for 10 to 12 min, with grill lid downward or straight on the coals and turned often for about 8 min.

Buffalo Potato Wedges
Ingredients for for Memorial Day Food
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine melted
- 1 teaspoon cider vinegar
- 3 teaspoons red pepper sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 medium potatoes-unpeeled
Method for Memorial Day Food
warmth coals or gas grill. Mix butter, vinegar, pepper sauce and salt in low dish. Cut each potato end-to-end into 4 wedges, pat arid with paper towel. Immerse potato wedges into butter mixture, reserve any leftover butter mixture. Cover and grill potatoes 4 to 6 inches from average heat 25 to 35 minutes, brushing infrequently with butter mixture and rotating once or twice until tender. Serve with blue cheese dressing if preferred.

Barbecued Beef Kabobs
Ingredients for for Memorial Day Food
- 1/4 c Lemon juice
- 2 tb Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tb Corn oil
- 1/3 c Soy sauce
- 2 tb Yellow mustard
- 1 Clove garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 lb Lean round steak, boneless
- 1 Large green pepper
- 4 oz Fresh mushrooms
- 8 Cherry tomatoes
- 1 large onion
Method for Memorial Day Food
Make marinade by mix Worcestershire sauce, oil, soy sauce, garlic, mustard and lemon juice. Slash beef into 1" chunks, and then place in marinade. Cover and marinate in keep cool for 12 hours or more. Incise vegetables into chunks, making at least 8 pieces of each. Take away beef cubes from marinade, reserving marinade. On 4 medium or long skewers, interchange pieces of meat and vegetables. Grill over hot coals, basting infrequently with marinade, for about 15 min, rotating skewers regularly. Serve hot.

Grilled Texas T-bones
Ingredients for for Memorial Day Food
- 2 Beef T-bone steaks, 1 1/2" thick (about 3 pounds)
- 1 Clove garlic, cut in half
- 2 ts Black peppercorns, crushed
- 1/4 c butter, softened
- 1 tb Dijon mustard
- 1/2 ts Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 ts Lime juice
- Salt and pepper, if desired
Method for Memorial Day Food
Trim fat on beef steaks to 1/4 inch width. Rub garlic on beef. Compress peppercorns into beef. Mix left over ingredients, apart from salt and pepper; set aside. Warmth coals or gas grills. Cover and grill beef 4 to 5 inches from average heat 16 to 18 min for medium doneness, rotating once. Add with salt and pepper. Place beef on hot platter; remove bones. Cut beef at biased angle into slender slices. Serve with kept margarine blend. Serve for 4.
