India’s Daughter (Documentary)

India’s Daughter is a documentary film based on reality of what have happened to a 23 year old physiotherapy student in the year 2012 so called the 2012 Delhi Gang Rape or considered it as Nirbhaya Act. The documentary was directed by Leslee Udwin and considered as the ongoing Storyville series in BBC. The documentary was recorded of what have happened at the scene on the night with the student while she was returning with her male friend after watching a movie in the late night and boarded a bus on the way to reach the destination. The male friend was hit hard for opposing the other people in the bus who tried to kill after a gang rape.

The Documentary was scheduled to be broadcasted on 4th of March to explain the world of what exactly had happened over there and what made the people in the bus to show such cruelty on women. The director had interviewed one of the rapist who is in Tihar Jail. The documentary was scheduled to be released on March 8th in India on the occasion International Women’s Day. Due to the passed on information to the Indian government and the film is banned for broadcasting in India by taking the court order and the BBC said it would comply the order. The film was uploaded in youtube which has gone viral all over and Indian government has requested YouTube to block the the video in India and compiled the orders.

Interview of the Physic rapist

The interviewed person was one among the six who committed rape including a 17 year old boy. The interviewed person was Mukesh Singh who has been serving a life imprisonment. Mukesh Singh stated in the documentary that the women shouldn’t have fought back of which they would have raped her and hit the boy, would have left them alone. The fight back was the mistake that was done by the women and claiming the girl was responsible for rape than a Boy. He stated that a decent girl wouldn’t roam outside at 9 O’clock in the night. Mukesh has charged 40,000 rupees for the documentation of which was negotiated from 2,00,000 rupees and was handed over to the family of Mukesh Singh.

Controversy

Following is the Controversy in the video not to be broadcasted and to be as told by the parents of the victim and the members of the Rajya Sabha. But the issue was considered as the disgrace on Indian government to ban the Video. The Delhi police has registered an FIR on March 3rd before the documented film was about to release against the filmmaker under section 505, 504, 505(1)(b), 509 of the Indian Penal Code and 66A Information Technology Act 2000. The Deputy Commissioner of Police of New Delhi has condemned the Documentary and on the interest of of justice, the maintenance of public order with an application was filed to the court seeking restraining order from publishing, transmitting, uploading, broadcasting the interview in India. The Indian government has blocked the video to be telecasted in India by obtaining the court order on March 4th 2015. But BBC had broadcasted the document in UK on 4th March evening and went viral around the social media. The Indian government has requested the YouTube to remove the video and YouTube compiled the same day. While the friend of the victim who was sharing the same amount of pain with the raped victim was Avanindra pandey, who explained that the document was not real of what the intentions of the six others were and most of the context in the document was fake. He stated, only jyothi and he does know what had happened that fateful night.
