St Patrick’s Day is one of the most popular and recognized single-day events around the world. Even some of the big cities in US consider this as the holiday and celebrate with surrounding communities and friends. In Connecticut State, the St Patrick’s Day event first took place in New Haven on March 17, 1842 when a small group of Irish society marched through the city downtown streets holding a banner made especially for the occasion. Since then the ritual continued and St Patrick’s Day parade became an annual tradition in almost all places including big cities as well as small towns. People from throughout the state either march in the parade or just enjoy standing in the routes of city downtowns to witness the show.
1. Mystic, Hartford and Greenwich are some of the other popular places where people celebrate this Irish festival with great zeal and enthusiasm. Irrespective of ethnic backgrounds and nationalities, many families from small towns and villages flock to the cities on this day to watch the spectacular event of St Patrick’s Day parade.
2. If you desire good luck on this day, wear a touch of green and take part in one of those popular parades where you can enjoy Celtic music, marching bands, belly dancers and zany floats. The parade takes place generally on the weekend before March 17, however sometimes it may vary from one place to another depending on the local time schedule.
