ASVAB Test

The Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is the primary exam to get enlisted in the US Military. This is imperative to get into the US Military.

The ASVAB has two basic purposes: First, it assess whether you have the mental toughness to enlist in the military branch of your choice, and second, the outputs enables the service determine which military job you have the mental aptitude for.

The ASVAB consists of nine separate timed subtests: Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematics Knowledge, General Science, Auto & Shop Information, Mechanical Comprehension, Assembling Objects, and Electronics Information.

Requirements

You’ll have to present valid identification to get entry into the ASVAB testing room. ASVAB test questions are considered as controlled testing substances. You should not leak any information about specific test questions to any other individual. It may attract a penalty.

Scores

About half the test takers score at or above a standard score of 50 and about 16% of the candidate scores at or above a standard score of 60.

Examinees also get a score that is called the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT). It is computed using the Standard Scores from four ASVAB subtests. Thus, an AFQT score of 90 manifests that the examinee scored better than 90% of the nationally-representative scores of 18 to 23 year old youth.

Preparation

Following tips should be considered to prepare for ASVAB test:

Using ASVAB study guide with focus on the math and verbal sections can be suggested.

Set up a study schedule and follow it strictly. Prepare for this test three to five months before taking the ASVAB to ensure that you review and study and take the practice test repeatedly.

Make a weekly study checklist as to when and where you need to study, how long you can study and monitor your progress.

Jolt down your study schedule and reward yourself on completion of your schedule.

Find a peaceful place to study, like your public or school library or quiet places if possible at home or work. This allows you to study for longer time which is crucial.

Ask support from family and friends. This will inform them you are serious about your plan and they will be happy to help, also post your schedule for all to view. It will encourage all to regard your study time.
