Arvika Festival 2016

Held in the month of July, Arvika festival is a music festival of Sweden. It is a three day event held during mid July between Thursday and Saturday.

The festival is organized by a non-profit organization Galaxen and is the meeting point for various Rock and Pop stars from all over the world. Visitors are allowed to begin camping from the beginning of the week and get ready to witness their favorite rock stars perform live. The first concert was held in the year 1992 and was booked with synth-pop bands. Ever since, the festival sees more of synth acts than any other and this is the single largest synth-pop based festival.

Arvika festival has been drawing more and more crowds every year. In 2006, about 16,000 music lovers thronged the show and created history in ticket sales for any festival so far. However, 2009 saw the record being broken with ticket sales soaring to 22,500. Now passes are issued separately for one-day or three-days to thin the crowds. Some of the famous bands to have graced this festival are – Depeche Mode, Interpol, Death Cab for Cutie, Infected Mushroom, Nine Inch Nails, Slayer, Bloc Party etc.

Of late, the Arvika festival financials have gone haywire and the crowds unmanageable. Hence, the organizers have announced that keeping in line with the original idea of the festival only alternative music will be the focus of the festival. Further, the bookings will be limited to 10,000 visitors and no more than that.  Also the prices for the tickets have been reduced owing to public demand.
