Enrique Martin Morales, who is well known through his stage name Ricky Martin, was born on 24th December, 1971 in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. He is a Latin Grammy Award and Grammy Award-winning Puerto Rican pop vocalist who grow up to popularity, primary as an opponent of Latin boy band Menudo, then as a single artiste since 1991. Martin has sold over 55 million albums around the globe.

Martin was the son of Enrique Martin Negroni, a psychologist and Nereida Morales, an accountant. Martin is the single child of his family. When Martin was 2 years old, his parents separated. Both remarried. From his mother’s side, Martin has 2 elder brothers, Angel and Fernando from a preceding wedding and 3 younger half sisters from his father’s side, Daniel, Vanessa and Eric.

Menudo

When Martin was 12 years old, he gave a test for a band Menudo, a Latin pop group. But Martin was declined because he was still a child. At the age of 13, Ricky Martin again gave a test and became a member. At the age of 17, Martin left this group and came back to Puerto Rico to complete his study.

Solo career of Ricky Martin

After completing his study, Ricky Martin left San Juan and turned to New York. After it, Ricky Martin shifted to Mexico City at where he began acting in drama productions and soap opera titled Alcanzar Una EstellaII (Reach for a Star). Martin played the role of “Pablo,” achieved the Heraldo Award in 1993.

During acting in Mexico, he was noticed to Sony Discos, the company's Latin imprint, in 1990. Martin unconfined his first single album, Spanish-language Ricky Martin in 1991, which comprised the solo "Fuego Contra Fuego." And this album earned the gold records in Argentina, Puerto Rico, Chile, U.S. and Mexico, Ricky Martin presented a sequence of sold-out show dates transversally South America.

In a magazine The Sunday Express on gay rumors he stated: "What are you going to do? I don't have a problem with homosexuality. I'm gay-friendly – I'm not gay."
On 20th August, 2008, Martin declared that he has become the father of twins’. On 10th December, 2008, he gave a statement after becoming father, "Ricky is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children.”

In September 2002, Ricky Martin achieved a Hispanic Heritage Award for his civilized work throughout Sabera Foundation in liberating 3 orphan girls from the road of Calcutta.
