While Paula is a producer, talent manager and she agent, William Hart is a clam hatchery worker, entrepreneur, and shellfish purveyor.
The Allman Brothers' song 'Melissa' inspired her parents to rechristen her as Melissa and her middle name Joan was borrowed from her grandmother. She has five sisters, including two step-sisters, and two brothers, of which only one brother is not in the showbiz and the rest earn their livelihood by acting.
