Virginia State Fair History
The goal of the Virginia State Fair was to promote agriculture and farming when it was first held in 1855. But as years passed, just like the other fairs the Virginia State Fair also changed into a more public friendly event. Farming and agriculture became one of many attractions at the fair and the primary importance is given to entertainment factors in order to fascinate the common mass. The fair was initially held somewhere near Richmond and Henrico county and considering the larger crowd it was later moved to Meadow Event Park.

This year's concert line-up has not announced yet. Everyone is keen on the announcement that is expected to happen in May.
Other major attractions at the fair are the aerial show that includes performance of wire walkers, jugglers, and all kinds of gymnastic performers, pig race, the State Fair Animal Nursery, the duck slide and the most popular tractor pulls. Food stalls of regional food varieties are another integral part of the fair. The fair hosts numerous historical exhibits as well, which showcase the state's rich cultural heritage.
