The channel was formed in 1993 when QVC inc. signed an agreement with BSkyB to create the UK version of a highly successful American home shopping channel of the same name. it is the acronym for what the company stands for "Quality, Value, Convenience".
The company itself was formed in 1986 by Joseph Segel and broadcasts in four major countries of USA, UK, Germany and Japan with an estimated 141 million consumers. In the UK, QVC UK is broadcasted to viewers through satellite, cable and digital systems in England, Scotland and Ireland. It has an estimated reach of about 15.6 million homes. The programs for home shopping are broadcasted 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is a program called QVCUK Night Time which offers the best of the previous hours.
