Today in the field of science, making a career in pharmacy becomes broad and quite challenging which results in more competition for jobs. If one has decided to make a career in pharmacy then he has to carefully choose the subjects at high school like:

Life science: The study of biological sciences is important for the knowledge of natural drugs and their actions within the body. It also helps in the preparation for the biological part of PCAT.

Chemistry: Many schools require lab work both in organic and general chemistry.

Biochemistry: This will provide integration of biology and chemistry.

Physics: Knowledge of calculus-based physics with the labs is generally required by the different schools.

Maths: Knowledge of basic formulas helps in the quantitative ability section of PCAT.

English: It helps in good command over English and it also helps in verbal ability and comprehensive sections of PCAT.

Computer skills: Basic knowledge of computer is very essential not only to add in the curriculum vitae but also to avoid any kind of obstacle in making a career.

Pharmacy School Requirements:

Students having the graduate degree can apply for the doctor of pharmacy degree. It is compulsory for the students who are applying for this degree must have the subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology at high school. Additionally, students are expected to complete general education courses, including social sciences, humanities and courses such as English composition and speech.

The courses required for the admission in the pharmacy degree vary from one institution to the other so it is better to research different pharmacy programs.

In some colleges, the pharmacy college admission test (PCAT) has been taken to judge the ability of the student. This test can be given 3 times in the year.

Pharmacy School Online:

Nowadays, internet has become an important medium for the efficient and effective drugs.     6. Your order has been completed and you will immediately receive an order confirmation email. Another email is also sent to you when your order has been dispatched.
Payment can be done in many in many forms such as:

1. Credit cards: All credit cards like VISA and Mastercard are accepted. You may submit your credit card details through secure site or you may phone and tell the details.

2. Bpay: You may pay online via online banking or telephone banking and if you select this option then details will be included on the confirmation page.

3. Bank cheque or money order: If you select this option for payment then please write order number on the back of the cheque. Cancellation of the order can only be done before the order is dispatched.

Pharmacy Technician: A qualified pharmacy technician has the ability to fill the prescriptions which is more important than to give medicines.

Steps to become a pharmacy technician are:
    1. Find a top pharmacy technician program. Choose the best school because you can only study online or in the classroom.
    2. Give the pharmacy technician exam and you can take this exam until you pass. Every state conducts these exams.
    3. There are plenty of online resources for pharmacy technician jobs or you can simply apply at the pharmacy near you and get the best job with attractive salary, hours and location.
    4. After becoming a certified pharmacy technician he has to complete certain number of training hours.
Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT):

The pharmacy college admission test has been developed by Harcourt Assessment. It is endorsed by the American association of college of pharmacy, an organization that represents pharmacy educators. The intent of PCAT is to ensure that the students who entered pharmacy schools are qualified.

Basically, the exam measures general academic ability and scientific knowledge. Only a good score in the PCAT test is not taken into consideration but undergraduate performance, performance in science class especially, and extra curricular activities also determined whether a candidate is accepted into a pharmacy school.

A candidate would take the PCAT test towards the end of their second year because many schools require at least two years of undergraduate school followed by either 4 academic or 3 calendar years of pharmacy study.

There is no negative marking for the wrong answers in this test and the total time given to complete the test is four and half hours including short breaks.

PCAT test is offered three times in a year.

Pharmacist: Pharmacists are those who provide the information to patients about the use of medicines prescribed by physicians. They advise physicians on the selection, dosages and side effects of medications.

They must think about the composition of drugs providing their biological, chemical and physical properties. Their practice includes the mixing of the ingredients to form tablets, capsules and ointments.

Pharmacists are drug specialists who:
    1. Dispense drugs prescribed by physicians.
    2. Educate and inform the patients about the use and side effects of medication.
    3. Retain the record of patients medicines and monitor their progress.
    4. Provide specialized disease management services for the patients with the conditions such as diabetes or asthma.
    5. Prepare drug therapies.
    6. Can manage a pharmacy both by hiring and supervising personnel.

To become a pharmacist one has to complete a six year program which includes: 2 years of pre-pharmacy courses, 3 years of professional pharmacy courses and 1 year of practical experience. The highest degree in pharmacy is doctorate.

Pharmacists can specialize in nuclear pharmacy, and nutrition support. Today the demand for the pharmacists has increased due to the advance in pharmaceutical industries.
