Outlook Calendar helps in creating appointments on specific time. It may also store and retrieve data of any scheduled events.

While organizing the meeting, the details of an appointment can be set as well as the names and contact details of the invitees can also be inserted. While synchronizing with others, Outlook Calendar may help in specifying others available time in a particular timeframe.
Outlook Calendar may also send an automated message to all the invitees mentioning the date and other essential details concerning the meeting. This helps in retrieving data if any of the invitees may find conflicts in the scheduled date of the meeting and decline the offer. This, in turn, aids in rearranging the date of appointment if required.
Viewing Group Schedules:
Outlook Calendar not only helps individual account, but it also enhances and customizes group activities. It has the ability to indicate the schedules of a group of individuals belonging to same workgroup.
Viewing Calendar as a Multi-tasking Component:
Outlook calendar enables the multi-tasking component mode. This means a user can use as many differently scheduled calendars as he wants. In other words, if a user creates a calendar scheduled with personal appointments and a calendar scheduled with professional appointments, he is able to open both of the calendars simultaneously.
It's not only the question of viewing, but the user may act on them as per his requirement such as sharing schedules or modifying appointments. If granted permission from the calendar owner, the user can interact and create shared appointments or adjust schedules.
Linking Calendar Components on Windows SharePoint:
If the user has the access to the Windows SharePoint Services site, the Outlook Calendar in the user system may display events listed from these sites. These components are basically dynamic by nature, that is, the components like events are dynamically updated on time.
Managing Interaction with Another User's Calendar:
If granted permission from the owner of any given calendar, a user can manage other's Outlook calendar. For example, an administrative assistant is able to manage the calendar created by the manager of the organization. While managing interactively, the user has the ability to modify, add or delete components of the calendar on other's behalf.
