New York State Fair 2014
The Great New York State Fair is an annual state fair of New York. The Great New York State Fair has the status of being one of the largest state fairs in the US. It is a 12- day event that hosts farmers' expositions mainly. In addition to the farmers' expositions the fair hosts a number of exhibitions related to entertainment, education, industry and technology are held. Rides and concerts are other major attractions at the event. The fair generally runs for 12 days starting from the third or fourth Thursday in August and comes to an end with a spectacular fireworks display on Labour Day.
New York State Fair History
The New York State Fair was initially held in 1841, in Syracuse. Approximately one million people take part in this fair every year. It was in 1890, the venue of the event got permanently fixed in Syracuse. Until then different cities across New York hosted the fair. 2014 marks the 172th anniversary of New York State Fair.
