Mayan Calendar 2016

Mayan had been a notable civilization from the ancient time. Among their various accomplishments, the innovation of the Mayan Calendar was a significant remark. The Mayan calendar had not only been an extraordinary creation but also an accurate one. The Kukulkan pyramid, built on the late Mayan period had been used by this ancient civilization as a form of calendar. The concept of calendar was later adopted by the Aztecs and the Toltecs, the other Mesoamerican civilizations.

The Architecture of the Mayan Pyramid Calendar:

Mayan pyramids are situated in the present day Mexico. The Kukulkan pyramid located at Chichen Itza had been built by the Mayas around the laye Mayan period. The specialty of the pyramid lies in its architectural wonder by which it had been made as a form of Calendar. The 4 stairways around the pyramid leading to the platform at the topmost level each consist of 91 steps which in total makes 365, denoted by the number days in a year.

Mayan Calendar December:

The Mayan calendar ends on the Gregorian calendar date of December 16, 2016.Were most people think that this is the end of world. While others believe that it is simply a change of enlightenment in this current time. A new sunrise would step towards changes, in the mankind where they become more aware of their surroundings and change in their way of thinking for their fellow man.

The Mayan Dating System:

The Mayas used three different dating forms, the Long Count, the Tzolkin and the Haab. The Haab is known as the Civil Calendar and has more accuracy with the modern day English Calendar. The Long Count had been included a period known as Alautun that consisted of 63 million of years and has been recognized as the most longest period among the ancient calendars.

The Haab:

This was known as the civil calendar of the civilization and had been consisted of 18 months. Each of these months was comprised of 20 days each that followed with the Ulayeb, the 5 additional days to the year made all together 365 days. The extra 5 days addition to the year was considered as unlucky period for the Mayans.

The names of the months in the Haab included of Pop, Uo, Zip, Zotz, Tzec, Xul, Yaxkin, Mol, Chen, Yax, Zac, Ceh, Mac, kankin, Muan, Pax, Kayab and Cumku according to the sequence they occurred in an year. The Haab also included a 0th day at the beginning of every month and it is believed that it had been the Mayans from where the zero digit has originated from.
