The beginning of Iowa State Fair can be traced back to 19th century. It is considered as the base with which other state fairs are measured. The first Iowa State Fair held in Fairfield 1854 had the budget of $324. It was in 1878, the venue of the fair got permanently fixed in Des Moines. Now the Iowa State Fair has got the charm of a great fair that attracts over a million people from within and across the country. This is an eleven day event that is generally held in late summer yearly.
The Fairgrounds are spread over 445 acres, of which 160 acres comprises of campsites. The fair gives importance to agricultural and livestock shows and sales.

The life-size butter cow is the peculiar feature of Iowa State Fair. Since 1960, this has been a part of the fair. Fair goers can shop newest products and designs of leading local and international companies that cover various industries. Visitors get a chance to explore each and every industry. The Iowa State Fair starts with the State Fair Parade held annually downtown just before the beginning of the fair.
Music concert line-up involves famous entertainers like, Sugarland, Maroon 5, and Reba McEntire. The official concert line-up for 2015 Iowa State Fair will be announced soon. The tickets for the fair will be going on sale by late April.
