Father’s day is a day of expressing of your love and honor to your father or forefather.The occasion is celebrated in many countries around the world in the second or third week of June.The concept is very similar to Mother’s day and Parent’s day, as the idea behind all is to show respect and love towards parents. This year, 2009, Father’s day will be celebrated on June 21st around the world and last year, it was celebrated on June 15th. Families can celebrate this occasion by spending time together, like by doing lunch or dinner together, or by giving some gifts to fathers or forefathers in the family.
The first observance of father’s day celebration was reported on July 15, 1908, in a church located in Fairmount, West Virginia.. Mrs. Sonora, a citizen from Washington, had started this day by giving tribute to her father after getting inspired by the concept of Mother’s Day. Some countries, including USA, provide official holiday on this day to strengthen Father-children relation in the family.
Now days the celebration of Father’s day has been commercialized by the gift manufacturing companies. Now one can find lots of gifts for fathers available in the market.
