Spring flowers are such a delight to the eyes! Not only they make an interesting way to bid farewell to winter, they also breathe colour and life to any garden. Budding of spring flowers signify the coming of the much-awaited season where the gardens are colourful courtesy of the bright and playful shades of the magnificent spring flowers.

Netted Iris

Netted Iris comes in a variety of colours such as white, purple, yellow, and a lighter shade of blue. These flowers are ideal to grow in rock gardens and sunny borders. Netted Iris, whose botanical name is Iris Reticulata, blooms from January to March and flowers from February to April. This flower grows from three to nine inches in height and is characterized with a very nice scent.

Mountain Laurel

These clusters of pink, red, or white flowers bloom in the late spring and in the early days of summer. The buds of Mountain Laurel have a very interesting shape which makes it one of the unique flowers around. These flowers thrive best in a moist, well-drained soil with an acidic pH under a full or partial sun. Its beauty has a negative side, though—it is known to have a poison so one must hold these flowers with extra caution. Also, children must not be allowed to be near them.

Spring Snowflake

What makes Spring Snowflake interesting is its shape and formation— it resembles a bell shape and blooms in a drooping position. It also has a unique colour combination of white petals with vivid green spots on its petal tips. Spring Snowflake bloom between the months of February and March. There is no particular care needed for this flower, and as long as they are watered well, they will grow beautifully.

The bright colour of heather, or heath, brings life to any garden in the early spring. This is a tiny flower, but because it comes in clusters, it instantly highlights a landscape. Heather has a botanical name of Erica Carnea, grows in full sun and well-drained acidic soil, and comes in white, pink, and red shades.

Glory of the Snow

The glory of the Snow comes in three colours; each has distinct characteristics of their own. The blue ones are star-shaped with colour white at the centre and they grow from three to six inches in height. The pink ones have the same shape but larger, and grow up to four inches only. The white variety of Glory of Snow also resembles the shape of the star, but this one grows in clusters and can grow up to ten inches in height.

They say springs will never be complete, colourful, fragrant, and pretty without the stunning presence of lilac flowers. As they bloom, they spread a lovely fragrance that signals the season of spring. Lilacs have pleasant colours that range from pink, purple, lavender, and white, and since they are great cut flowers, their beauty can stand out either outdoor or indoor. When growing lilac, take note that they thrive in zones 3-8, in well-drained soil, and in full sun.
