Snapdragon belongs to the family Scrophulariaceae and its genus is Antirrhinum. Another name for snapdragon flowers is dragon flower. The flower is named after its appearance of a dragon with its mouth open. The genus Antirrhinum comes from the Greek word for “nose-like” due the mature capsule which looks like a nose.
