Easter Sunday is a very big occasion for all Christians around the world. Easter marks the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. According to the Christian calendar, Easter is one of the greatest festivals. Easter is celebrated after observing Lent for 40 days. Lent is fasting for 40 days and during this time, people refrain from drinking, eating meat and celebrations.
The 40 days of Lent goes way back to the biblical times. This was a time when Jesus fasted in the dessert and prayed. He prayed for all mankind an asked forgiveness for sins. Jesus resurrected from the dead and gave new life to all his people.

Friends and families visit each other for Easter lunch or dinner in which lamb roast is the main dish. Other side Easter dishes are the hot cross buns and the Simnel cake. Easter eggs and Easter bunnies are a prominent symbol of Easter.
Easter Sunday is also celebrated by organizing games for kids. Egg rolling races, decorating eggs, receiving chocolate Easter eggs and Easter egg hunts are a few common activities enjoyed by kids.
Easter has always been an important and a special occasion after Christmas. It is also considered as one of the holiest festivals for Christians. Therefore Easter Sunday is filled with a lot of religious activities, fun and a grand feast.
