Rs Constructions Costs

RSMeans measures of dollar per square foot construction costs study helps to determine comparatively which construction is the costliest and which is the cheapest. We present below some of the main comparisons based on the report considering four recreational types of structures:

Ranking by Expense:

As per the report published, based on dollar per square foot construction, constructing an enclosed swimming pool is the most expensive followed by racquetball court. Hockey rink/indoor soccer arena ranks third as per dollar per square foot construction measure and in the fourth position is a bowling alley.

Comparison with Other Types of Construction Structure

The recreational structures considered in the report are in the mid range based on dollar per square foot construction cost measure as compared to other types of construction structure. Hospitals and jails are the most expensive whereas factories, warehouses and parking garages are the cheapest.

Expensive Cities

Based on the dollar per square foot of construction cost measure for recreational structures, New York is the most expensive followed by San Francisco. New York and San Francisco along with Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia makes up the top five most expensive cities based on aforementioned measure. Cities in the southeast and southwest are the least expensive and include cities like Miami, Atlanta and Houston among others.

With improvement in US housing, the scenario will be more positive and global economic recovery will help open the window for opportunities around construction and allied services. This will help pull the cost down and make US housing affordable.

It is to be noted that RSMeans has modified its costing models and hence it will not be wise to compare this year’s figures with that of last years.
