Master of Science in Construction Management

Real Estate courses are offered by a number of Universities so as to prepare the students at the undergraduate and graduate level to work in the field of real estate, construction, and real estate management and development. The focus of real estate as an academic program has grown in the past two or three decade and the academic program mostly offered is graduate level program, and only very few undergraduate degrees are available in the field of Real Estate.

Master of Science in Construction Management

The Master of Science in Construction Management is a traditional real estate course specializing in the field of Construction, planning and overall control of Real estate project. The program helps the students to understand inside out of the subjects related to real estate and construction and at the same time offers foundation in finance, law, accounting, business etc. this graduate course helps the students to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to work in the real life projects of big and small construction making the best out of resource and finance available and also makes them capable to decide the best location and time to start the construction project and how to complete it sucessully.

Duration of the course

The course can be completed in a period of 12 months on a full time basis or may take up to 24 months in case of part time course. The course is usually offered as evening program so as to accommodate the working professional who has work during the day. Distance learning opportunity is also provided by some Universities.

Course offered

The course provides include concentration in accounting, finance, information technology, marketing and management. And core courses in real estate and construction management. It also offers a number of elective courses to choose from which provides the students with advanced knowledge in Real estate and construction field.

The students are required to complete a total of 30-45 semester credit during the program including 9 credit hours in thesis or 6 credit hours in professional project. The Master of Science in Construction Management focuses on Integrated Project Delivery Systems, Sustainable Built Environment, Infrastructure Development, International Construction and Virtual Design and Construction. The core courses of the program may include Design and Construction Law, Research Methods and Leadership in Construction.

Prerequisites for the course

To enter the Master of Science in Construction Management the applicants are required

  • To obtain a Bachellaurate degree or equivalent degree from any accredited college or University.
  • Have obtained an average of 3 points; B grade in the course completed.

Universities offering the Course

Construction Management undergraduate and graduate courses are offered by 33 University in the United States.

The Daniels College of Business under the University of Denver offers Master of science degree in Real Estate and Construction Management(MSREM) and Executive master of Science in Construction Management (XREM).

The University of Washington offers Master of Science in Construction Management under the Department of Construction Management under the college of Built environment.

The Wayne State University offers Master of Science in Construction management for international applicants and the University of Houston offers the program Master of Technology in Construction Management.

Florida International University, Michigan State University and Western Illinios University are amigo some in the United States that prepares the students to excel in the field of real estate and construction management.
