Athletes, volunteers and the British public from all walks of life are coming together to chip in and make the London 2012, a roaring success. The London 2012 Organizing Committee (LOCOG) is getting extended help for the Games which will take place next year. Testing is done for all crucial aspects to see the operations are flawless.
10,000 volunteers, nearly 8,000 athletes and a mammoth 250,000 spectators will undergo training .They will all have a role to play. The 12-month testing programme for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games, will begin this summer and continue until May 2012.Dubbed as the ‘London Prepares’ series, the event will be treated to some world-class sport. A series of brand new venues are planned at the Olympic Park.
London Prepares’ primary focus is on testing aspects. Areas covered are field of play, final results, accurate timing and perfect scoring system. The rehearsals will monitor how teams can work in harmony and collaborate between one venue to the other.
Events are broadly categorized into: Organized events with tickets by LOCOG, Non- ticketed events run by LOGOG, and events independent of LOCOG. The cycling road race at Surrey, marathon swimming at Hyde Park is free of cost.
Paul Deighton, LOCOG Chief Executive, said: 'The London Prepares series is essentially about putting our plans into practice. Although our venues won’t be dressed in their Games finery, a number of events will give the public a chance to see some world class sporting action ahead of next year.
