Vladimir Putin Prepares Ground for Another Innings as President

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin hasstarted preparing the ground for another presidential innings. He has set up a fresh 'Popular Front'political movement to bring his supporters together.

On Monday, while attending a military parade, organized to commemorate the 66th anniversaryof the Soviet defeat of Nazi Germany, on Red Square, Putin said, "UnitedRussia needs an inflow of fresh ideas, fresh proposals and an inflow of newfaces." 

The premier has adopted a higher profile in last few weeks and that hasintensified the speculations on his return to the presidency for a contentiousthird time.

He is planning to revitalize his United Russia party before the parliamentaryelection in coming December and a presidential poll in March next year.

Hesaid that the progress was in relation to "citizenswho share common values, linked to love for the motherland, improving people'slives, and strengthening the might of the state".

Accordingto reports, United Russia is losing support of a few sections.  Butparty officials are saying that they would reserve nearly a quarter of theseats on the party list for renowned non-party leaders.

However, analysts see this development in a differentperspective. They are of the opinion that Putin’s step looks like an effort toget hold of the initiative from President Dmitry Medvedev.

Mark Urnov, a political analyst said, the idea of introducinga popular front "kills all forms of competition and protest."
