Regular Coffee Consumption Diminishes Lethal Prostate Cancer Risk

A man who consumes either caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee per day has a lower risk of developing a more offensive from of prostate cancer, researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health claimed in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. The aggressive cancer referred to here is the one that reaches the bones.

Senior author, Lorelei Mucci wrote: "Few studies have specifically connected  the association of coffee intake and the risk of lethal prostate cancer, the form of the disease that is the most critical to prevent. Our study is the largest to date to examine whether coffee could lower the risk of lethal prostate cancer."

Coffee has several ingredients which maintain insulin, diminish swelling (inflammation), and serve as antioxidants - all acknowledged beneficial pertaining to prostate cancer risk. Hence, the scientists decided to study it.

Apart from protecting against breast cancer revealed last week, earlier studies have also indicated that coffee cuts down the risk of having diabetes type 2m,  cirrhosis of the liver, gallstone disease, Parkinson's disease, and liver cancer.

The authors concluded that further validation studies in other areas are required to confirm their discoveries. If confirmed, then prostate cancer protection can be incorporated to the benefits of regular coffee consumption.
