Yeast Infection Home Remedies

Introduction of Yeast Infection

Vaginal yeast infections are caused by the introduction of new yeast into the vaginal area, or if there is an increase in yeast already present in the vagina in comparison to normal bacteria. For instance, if the normal, protective bacteria are eradicated due to antibiotics, it can result in the increase of yeast levels causing irritation in the lining of the vagina

Vaginal yeast infections are also caused due to injury to the inner vagina, as a result of chemotherapy. Also, women who have suppressed immune systems as in the case of those who take cortisone-related medications like prednisone) are more prone to such vaginal yeast infections than women who have a normal immunity. Other causes could be due to excessive use of douches, vaginal hygiene sprays or perfume sprays.

Vaginal yeast infection is not considered to be a sexually transmitted disease and can occur in sexually inactive women too.
