The another name of urdhva dhanurasana is Upward Bow Pose which is important pose in yoga. It is a backward  bend which is very healthy for the brain relaxation. It is a good asana for spine and spine muscles. Its stretches the chest muscles. This yoga requires lots of patience because a person cannot achieve the target in first or in other attempt unlike in other asanas. In coming into proper form it requires lots of practice and dedication. Once getting success into it, a person can get peace and calmness in life and feel that he is away from stress and depression.

How to Perform Urdhva Dhanurasana

Though this is a difficult pose so its requires little preparation before doing this pose. Before doing this yoga it’s necessary to start it with some other yoga asana in order to warm up body muscles. This asana will support the spine and stretches the arm muscles, shoulder muscles and thigh muscles and giving flexible back. In the earlier stages, a person should go slow by keeping a proper balance and then by practicing it again and again it automatically comes in form. He can support himself with the wall. For this pose person should lie down on its back, keeping feet flat and straight. Now slowly bend your arms with your hand keeping forearm straight to the floor. Spread your feet keeping upper leg parallel and then try to rise exhaling outside without putting strain on back. After some time come back to the original form for relaxation.

When to Perform Urdhva Dhanurasana

This is a tough asana so elderly people should avoid doing this pose. Pregnant women should not do this asana as these put lots of stain on back so they might suffer from back pain during this period.
Heart disease patient, person suffering from heart strokes should avoid it. High blood pressure patient can do this yoga under the guidance of trainer or instructor.
