Skin Vitamins

The quality of the skin depends a lot upon the nutrition of a person. If a person has a balanced diet which supplies the body and the skin with all the vitamins and minerals that it needs then that person has a healthy and glowing skin. On the other hand if a person does not have a balanced diet and the skin and the body is not getting enough nutrients then the quality of the skin deteriorates. In short the skin appears to be blotchy, saggy and lifeless.

The necessary vitamins and minerals should be ingested internally and these are then absorbed in the body and have a positive effect on the skin. There is a strong co relation between the intake of vitamins and healthy skin.

Vitamin A

  • Vitamin A is one of the essential vitamins that the skin needs in order to look healthy. Vitamin A builds up and strengthens the tissues of the skin in order to make it stronger. Vitamin A is also essential in order to prevent acne.
  • Sebum production in the skin might increase due to hormonal changes, improper diet etc. Vitamin A essentially reduces sebum production and keeps it in check. The skin is exposed to many elements which might cause harm like bruises, cuts etc. Vitamin A makes it possible for the skin to regenerate over these cuts and bruises.
  • Even the mucous membrane is made up of vitamin A. Another great way to make sure that one has a healthy skin is to flush out all the toxins from the body. Vitamin A does help in achieving that.

Vitamin B

  • Vitamin B is another one of the essential vitamins for the skin. Vitamin B serves a lot of purposes like maintaining protein metabolism, building red blood cells, hormone synthesis. Vitamin B also controls oil secretion from the skin or rather regulates it so that the skin does not appear to be increasingly oily.
  • The skin is also scarred by acne, bruises etc. These can leave behind permanent marks. Vitamin B takes care of this and reduces these marks and blemishes on the skin. Sometimes people also suffer from skin diseases which make the skin appear really scaly and vitamin B helps with that too.

Vitamin C

  • Vitamin C stimulates the production of collagen. Vitamin C also helps in neutralizing and cutting down on free radicals which might do harm to the skin. Scar tissue and marks are difficult to get rid off. Vitamin C helps in doing exactly that as it can increase skin bondage thus covering up the scars left on the skin.
  • This also means that Vitamin C can make the skin appear more young, fresh and supple. The skin is also exposed to ultra violet rays present in the sunlight. These ultra violet rays can do a lot of harm and vitamin C offers protection against them.

Vitamin D

  • Vitamin D is great for the skin as it promotes and helps in the development of skin cells. It moisturizes the skin and makes it more apt for absorbing and keeping the moisture locked in the skin so as to not appear dry or scaly. It also helps lighten blemishes made by acne.

Vitamin E

  • Vitamin E is important for growth of healthy skin tissue. It also ensures that harmful toxins and free radicals which might cause harm to the skin are flushed out. This helps in reducing the occurrence of acne in people. Vitamin E is also great for people who have burned themselves accidentally or have complains regarding skin inflammation and irritation.

All in all one needs an adequate supply of vitamins if they want to ensure healthy skin without any unnecessary marks, blemishes or acne.
