Septoplasty Precautions

Septoplasty makes the nasal septum straight byrelocating the cartilage, trimming extra bones or cartilage, or by constructingsome areas by use of cartilage graft. This surgery is generally carried out incase of breathing complications, severe nosebleeds, and severe sinusitis etc.

Precautions Before Septoplasty Procedure:

  • You need 1-2 weeks free time beforeundergoing Septoplasty. Many patients are at ease & ready to go out inpublic after 2 weeks of surgery.

  • Stop Smoking, as it reduces theprocess of healing post surgery.
  •  After 24 hrs of sedation, you might go throughlapses of memory and weaken judgment. Therefore, it is essential to havesomeone along for assistance who can help you as well as take you home if it’san outpatient procedure. Precautions After Septoplasty Procedure

Post Surgery, Soft silicone splints are located within each nostril to hold upthe septum. Cotton bandage is applied to prevent bleeding. These splints andcotton packs are generally removed after 2-5 days after surgery.
