Potato In Curd Gravy Ingredients

  • 3 medium sized potatoes
  • 1 cup of curd or yogurt
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp coriander / dhania powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 pinches of Asafoetida
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves
  • 1 Tbsp of chopped coriander leaves
  • ½ tsp grated ginger
  • ½ tsp grated garlic
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • ¼ tbsp wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 ½ cups of water

Potato In Curd Gravy Preparation Method

The procedure of preparing potato in curd gravy is as follows:

  • Boil the potatoes and peel them.
  • Cut the potatoes into big pieces and mash a few pieces.
  • Mix the masala powders in ¼ cup of water.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add cumin and mustard seeds.
  • When they crackle, add the curry leaves, slit green chillies and the ginger and garlic.
  • Add the masala water and then add beaten curd.
  • Stir continuously till the curd loses its whiteness.
  • Add water, mashed as well as unmashed potato, wheat flour and salt.
  • Stir well so that the flour does not form lumps.
  • Boil and heat on low flame till the gravy thickens.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Potato in curd gravy can be served either with chapathis or rice.
