Karimeen Pollichathu Ingredients

  • 2 Pearl spot fish
  • 1 large piece of ginger (finely chopped)
  • 5 Green chilies (finely chopped)
  • 1 Cup coconut milk
  • ½ Cup onions (finely chopped)
  • A few Curry leaves
  • 2-3 Plantain leaves and Oil to fry

For the Paste

  • 1 Piece of ginger
  • 5 Garlic pods 
  • 2 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder 
  • 1 tbsp Pepper powder 
  • few curry leaves and Salt to taste

Preparation Method for Karimeen Pollichathu Recipe

 

Before you start making Karimeen Pollichathu, get all the ingredients ready. Grind garlic pods, ginger, curry leaves, pepper powder, chili powder, turmeric powder and salt into a smooth paste.

Wash the fish well and make two slits on each side. Now marinate the fish with the paste and keep it aside for an hour. Take a few plantain leaves, wash them well and dry it. Coast them with oil and keep the marinated fish in it. Now put the fish along with the plantain leaves in a cooking pan. Cover the pan with a lid and allow it to cook on low flame for a few minutes.

Now while the Karimeen Pollichathu is getting cooked, take another cooking pan with oil. Once the oil is heated, add the chopped onions, green chilies, curry leaves and ginger. Fry it for some time. After this drop the fish without the leaves in this pan and coat it with this masala. Now add some coconut milk and allow it to simmer for a while. 

Once the Karimeen Pollichathu is ready, serve it on the plantain leaves. This dish goes well with hot rice. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
