Yoga and Ayurveda go hand in hand. Yoga is known as one of the best exercises that are practiced by many people. Ayurveda is a way of healing the body. Both yoga and ayurveda are known to be Vedic science that have been put together to heal the mind, body and consciousness. 

Yoga concentrates on healing the consciousness and mind while Ayurveda is more about the health of the body. When both these are put together they do wonders. 

During the earlier times, Ayurveda was practiced by experts known as ‘rishis’ who had mastered the art of this Vedic science. According to them, a healthy body is an asset. If a person neglects the body it may hinder the spiritual practice. For a person who is used to practicing yoga for a long time would be able to sit still without feeling tired and uncomfortable. Yoga and Ayurveda are a very good combination and are the best ways to heal and prevent disorders and rejuvenate the body.

Both yoga and Ayurveda are quite similar to each other. Attitude, diet, nutrition, hygiene, cleaning practices, exercise and it also includes spiritual practices. When a student is practicing yoga, he has to be with his teacher as during this time he can absorb good habits. The basic principle of Ayurveda is good longevity and health which a person can get with his spiritual practice.

Yoga is a very interesting way of strengthening the mind and the body. Yoga is taught by many experts in schools and institutions. Even today Yoga and Ayurveda is practiced in many western countries. More and more people are learning it. There is a proper way of following this and we are losing most of it without proper guidance. Many people who practice yoga are benefitting with knowing about ayurveda as well. As this is the best way to have a healthy routine and feel good mentally and physically.

Similarities between Yoga and Ayurveda 

  • Yoga and Ayurveda are ancient Vedic learning. When we go back to the old times, we get to know that yoga originated in the Yajur Veda while Ayurveda originated in the Rig Veda and Atharva Veda.
  • Both keep the body healthy, which is important in completing the four aims of our life- duty (Dharma). Wealth (Artha), liberation (Moksha) and desire (kama).
  • Both yoga and Ayurveda have the same physiology and physical anatomy. All these consist of 72,000 nadis, 5 body sheaths, 7 main chakras and kundalini Shakti.
  • Yoga and Ayurveda concentrate on the physical health, mental, spiritual and emotional well-being.
  • In yoga and Ayurveda, the techniques used helps in cleansing the body, removing wastes and toxins with the help of natural elements. In yoga six was of purification techniques (shat karma) and in Ayurveda five cleansing actions (panchakarma) are used. 

Therefore, both yoga and Ayurveda is the most beautiful way of healing the body and mind. It keeps a person positive and happy. This is the best way to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul.
