No other place in the house displays the feng shui influence than the living room does. This room is focused to family life and to feng shui. Living room is the heart of the entire house so as to feng shui. It's because the living room is the place in the entire house that can be charged as per all nine sectors of the bagua or lo shu square transforming this room as a very prominent space.
When you want to activate the feng shui of the entire house, you should take initiative by applying feng shui remedies to the living room. The advantage is that the living room can boost the feng shui of other portions of the house that may have hardships or shouldn't have a specific enhancement.
For example, if the bedroom is in the north direction, a water fountain can add the value for enhancing career feng shui. However, water in the bedroom is not advisable. But, water in the northern area of the living room will catapult that area's feng shui with vibrant water energy in the corresponding corner.
You can trigger the bagua to your area that your house sits on. This is called the large tai chi. The small tai chi is all about applying bagua to a specific room -- such as the living room -- or to a place like a desk. In applying feng shui to the living room, you are stimulating the small tai chi.
Be aware, although based on the sector, you may not want to facilitate all influences. For instance, if your living room is situated in the northwest corner of the house, then it would not be recommended to add candles to the southern area of the living room as an open flame in the NW part of the house is very fatal.
NW is the section of "heaven" or the patriarch or bread earner of the family (if the breadwinner is a man). With that caveat in mind, do go forward with making alterations to your living room. By doing so, you will automatically enhance your feng shui for your entire home!
The living room should strike a great balance of yang and yin. A little excess "yang" or positive energy is particularly beneficial. This can be produced from the incorporation of a red colored wall, a bright chandelier, or a moving substance.
Hanging picture of a happy family in the living room can also do the magic. This picture can activate the entire family. Place the picture on an East wall to get better family relationships. You may also want to incorporate pictures based on their direction in the living room to trigger a particular area. For instance, a picture of a fabulous lake or waterfall can be wonderful on the wall to the north of your room (career/opportunities) and a big beautiful tree would be great for the east wall (health/family relationships).
The whole concept of living room is to make a place where the entire family comes together or where guests can be welcomed and all can enjoy dialogues and each other's company. Living rooms are the place of celebrations and great times, so they actually benefit from right arrangement.
Many a times, living room is affected by a L-shaped configuration caused by L-shaped sofas or by placing a sofa and loveseat at a 45 degree angle to each other. This generates conflict and a feeling of being immensely uncomfortable in the room. Don’t forget televisions and fireplaces aren't the central points of a living room but people are.
Hence, arrange the room in a way so that sofa and seat face each another. Don't worry fireplace and TV can still be viewed and at the same time you will automatically and dramatically catapult your desire to be in the room and you will nurture more loving and harmonious relationships. At the same time you will improve the flow of positive energy in the room!
To make sure that families are compatible and enjoying good relationships with each other, don’t forget to incorporate some elements of red and gold together. It could be a decorative piece or vase of red carnations and gold daisies, or it could even be a pillow with red and gold colored laces. Red and gold together allow calm conflicts and generate soothing feelings. Make sure to add these two colors together wherever there is any possibility of conflicts.
Which one is the lucky corner? This is the corner of that room which is opposite and diagonal to the prime entry to the room. If this corner falls in the W, NW, SW, or NE, then stimulate this corner with a beautiful bowl, geode, of semiprecious stones, beautiful decor, globe or other earth feature. If the lucky corner is in the south, then stir the chi there with a beautiful tall bright lamp. If the corner is in the north, place a fountain here. If it is in the southeast or east, install a fountain here or place a bunch of beautiful lush plants or pretty flowers.
