With the high technology, it becomes easy for people to avail the benefits of inventions. The new science has invented the procedure in which patients will not feel any pain when the operation is going on. There were many hurdles when patients were taken into the operation room. They become nervous or get excited and their blood pressure shoots up or drops down etc, but now patients are given anesthesia to bring them in unconscious state so that they may not come across with those difficulties. But anesthesia should be given with precaution.
Some precautions are necessary to avoid the complications before and after using anesthesia
Before giving drug one should take following precautions
Anesthetic should be careful in giving the drug as overdose can cause many harmful disease and side effects and an under dose will not make the patient unconscious.
Anesthetic should use a new syringe for giving the drug as used syringe can give invitation to many diseases.
All dental surgeons should wear face masks and gloves.
Anesthetic should take a detail history about his medical records and family allergies from the patient. Keeping in mind anaesthetic may look in to the factors like patients age, weight, allergies, and medical history then he will decide which drug or combination of anaesthesia will suit to the patient.
All the equipments which will be used such as face mask, blades should be ready. Oxygen monitoring machine should be there as a patient’s blood pressure may drop down.
Staff members should be ready to take an immediate action if any emergency arises.
After anesthesia drug is given some of the precautions should be kept in mind
Patient should not chew or eat anything after anesthesia is given because his mouth is numb from anesthesia so there may arises the possibility of biting the tongue or mouth.
Patient should not drink anything after dental anesthesia is given as there may arise a possibility of swallowing the drug that may result into choking.
Patient will return back to his normal condition within 2-3 hours after surgery is completed. If not then he should consult his dentist.
After the surgery is completed anesthetic and staff members provide an extra oxygen mask to patient and monitor the airways. They keep on checking his blood pressure, pulse rate, oxygen, respiratory rate, and temperature. They check that patient is coming back to conscious state. In local anesthesia patient can immediately go back home after coming in conscious state. For testing staff members give him paper and pen to write, in this way they test patient consciousness. Another test is, they see whether patient is able to walk properly straight or not. Patient can recover faster after anesthesia if he is not having any allergies or side effect. In this case he should consult to dentist immediately.
