Always get your curly hair cut by a professional hair stylist. You may also benefit from the twist curling technique for your hair if they are too thick. Twist curling actually reduces the hair volume and makes it more manageable. If you have plans to grow your curly hair, make sure that you can maintain and care for it properly otherwise better opt for short hair. Ask your hair stylist about the type of hair style that suits your face. Your hair stylist will also have catalog of various hairstyles and you can choose a perfect one from it. The most common short hairstyles available for women are French Braids, Medium Length Bob Style, Tight Cornrows Inverted Bob, curly bob etc. The short hair styles available for women are Afro style, Cornrows, dreadlocks, hair braids etc.

Curly hair requires special treatment with special hair care products that are available exclusively for curly hair. Natural hair care products will work well for curly hairs. The natural products are safer to use and will not cause any damage to both scalp and hair. These products can be made easily at home. Egg is one of the effective natural products suitable for hair treatment. Egg contains all the essential proteins required for hair conditioning. Apply egg yolk evenly to all parts of hair and allow it to stand for 20 minutes and wash it off with a mild shampoo. Apart from egg, there are also many herbal hair care products available in market which is made from plant extracts.

Curly Hair Care Tips

  • Always use a wide tooth comb that helps in smooth combing.
  • Use a good quality conditioner for conditioning your hair after washing and do deep conditioning at least once a month.
  • Minimize the hair washing to just twice or thrice a week. Too much washing may lead to excessive dryness.
  • If you need to wash your hair daily, make sure to moisturize it properly after washing.
  • Use shampoo just once a week. Excessive shampooing may damage the hair.
  • Instead of blow drying use a hair dyer, allow it to dry naturally. The use of hair dryers may make your hair drier and eventually damage it.
  • Towel drying should also be avoided as it leads to tangle formation and difficult to handle.
  • Never comb your hair when it is wet. Combing wet hair causes frizziness.
  • Do hot oil treatment at least once a month. This helps in maintaining the hair texture.
  • The use of hair straighter should be avoided.
  • Get your hair cut every four weeks to remove split ends.
  • Visit a professional hairstylist for a hair cut.
  • Choose hair care products that do not adversely affect your hair texture.
  • Try to detoxify your hair at least once a month. Hair have good absorbing power and hence absorb all types of pollutants easily. Detoxification helps in removing all those harmful substances from the hair.
  • Before going to bed, tie your hair in to a bun so that they do not get tangled up. After waking up, spray water on to hair so that it becomes easy to handle.
  • Avoid the use of excess oils, gels or mousse.
  • Never over brush your hair. Over brushing may cause frizziness of hair.
  • Avoid playing or touching hair frequently as it may cause tangle formation.
