What is Constipation

Constipation stands for hard or infrequent stools, or trouble in passing stools. Constipation occurs in the colon (large intestine), which is accountable for storing and evacuating stomach in the form of stool.   •    Consuming a full glass of warm milk prior to retiring to bed at night enables easy evacuation in the morning. In case of serious constipation, you can blend two teaspoons of castor oil in the milk.
  •    Take 10-12 calimyma figs and cook them for 10 minutes in two glasses of distilled water (16 oz). Let the water stay overnight. In the morning take out the figs, warm the water again and drink it.  Eat the figs all day.
  •    Spinach is an ideal home remedy and most effective therapy for constipation. Ideally it should be eaten raw or else you can prepare a 100 ml spinach juice blend with equal quantity of water and consume it twice a day.
  •    Intake of one liter of warm water and taking a stroll for a couple of minutes immediately after leaving bed early in the morning is also a great home therapy.
  •    Bael fruit do wonders in treating constipation. Eat the fruit everyday for almost 2-3 months to make the most of it.
  •    Consuming warm water mixed with lemon juice for two or three times a day also offer comfort in constipation.
  •    Aloe gel is also a panacea to constipation if taken one or two spoons twice a day. You can also use diluted Karo syrup or diluted prune juice in a bottle to ease the trouble.
  •    A very general Ayurvedic therapy for constipation is Triphala powder. This powder is made by blending three kinds of herbs into power. A teaspoon of this powder if taken with warm water or milk also at bed time in night can also affect the bowel movement magically.
  •    Guava is yet another powerful remedy for constipation. When consumed with seeds, it offers roughage and fiber to the diet. It also helps in the normal evacuation of the stool. One or two guavas everyday can do wonders.
  •    Grapes have also been believed to be very beneficial in coming out of constipation trouble. The fusion of the properties of the sugar, cellulose, and organic acid in grapes transforms them into a laxative food.
  •    Mix 2 tablespoons of husk seed (Isabgol) in 1/2 a cup of warm milk or even water and immediately consume it. It should be followed by one cup of plain milk to get the best result.
  •    The most prominent component in treating constipation is a natural and fiber rich simple diet. This should comprise of unrefined foods for instance cereals, wholegrain, lentils, bran, green and leafy vegetables, honey, fresh and dry fruits etc.
