Precautions Before Cervical Biopsy

Before undergoing the process of Cervical Biopsy, the candidate should take the following precautions:

  • Women who are sensitive to medicines, iodine, or latex should let their health care provider know about this before undergoing the Cervical Biopsy.

  • The doctor should be informed well in advance whether the patient is pregnant, because endometrial biopsy may be the reason of miscarriage.

  • Conditions like severe vaginal discharge or cervical contagions, serious pelvic ailment may hinder endometrial biopsy. So, the candidate should inform the doctor about these factors.

Precautions After Cervical Biopsy:

The following are the precautions need to be taken in the post stages of cervical biopsy:

  • Women who have undergone the cervical biopsy should not involve in sexual intercourse for about 15 days after the procedure.

  • Ask your health care provider if you can continue taking other medicines as before.

  • Do not use tampons during your period immediately after the cervical biopsy. However, if the doctor observes that there is nothing wrong in using them, you can continue with the same.

  • You should make a call to the doctor, if you experience the following conditions:

  • Bleeding at a time not matching to your periods

  • Ache in lower stomach

  • Fever

  • Heavy Vaginal discharge with bad smell

Precautions while Recovering from Cervical Biopsy

The following are some of the precautions you need to take as part of the recovery process:

  • Consume healthy foods to improve your immune system.

  • Consult your doctor if you want to have sexual intercourse with your partner.

  • If you have undergone cone biopsy, do not insert anything into your genital part until the cervix is healed completely. And the cervix takes several weeks to heal.

  • Avoid stressful activities such as heavy lifting.
