Bleeding Gums Home Remedy

Bleeding gums is also known as gingivitis. It is an inflammation caused inside the mouth. Bleeding gums affect the tissues around the teeth and gums. If left untreated, this periodontal may turn into serious dental problems. Gingivitis is caused when plaque, bacteria and food particles are accumulated in between teeth and gums. This accumulation releases toxic elements. These elements cause the soreness in the gums.

Bleeding Gums Home Remedies

Instead of visiting a doctor, you can cure the bleeding gums at home by using some simple and effective home remedies.  Following are some of the bleeding gums home remedies:

  • Use herbal toothpaste and mouthwash. Brush twice daily.
  • Rub the gums with clove oil. Though you will feel a burning sensation at that time, later it will help to cure the bleeding gums. You can also chew a piece of clove to get relief.
  • Use toothpastes that contain ingredients like mint, babool, neem, basil. They prevent the spread of the infection and minimize the swelling in the gums.
  • Add a pinch of salt to a glass of lukewarm water. Gargle with this solution twice a day.
  • Take a glass of lukewarm water and add one tablespoon of triphala powder. Gargle with this solution.
  • Massage the aloevera pulp on the affected areas. After the massage, gargle with water. Do it repeatedly.
  • Take a combination of two tablespoon of white oak bark herbal powder, one table spoon of myrrh herbal powder, ¾ tablespoon of peppermint leaves' powder and 1/8 tablespoon of clove powder. Grind them well and keep in an air tight container. Consume one tablespoon of the mixture everyday in the morning and night. Rub the mixture in the affected area too.
  • Prepare a mixture of baking soda and water. Apply to the affected area with a finger and brush with herbal powder. Apart from giving a healing touch it would also neutralize the acidity caused due to the bacteria.
  • Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Increase intake of fiber and vitamin C rich foods. Also take foods with low saturated fats.

As we all know prevention is better than cure. So preventive treatment of bleeding gums is to brush at least twice a day and if possible brush even between the meals. Ensure that gums are well brushed. Avoid intake of alcohol and do not take aspirin that affects the capability of blood to clot.
