B-Complex or Vitamin B complex is a group of eight B vitamins. The B vitamins were earlier thought to be a single vitamins. Research showed that B vitamin consists of different chemically distinct vitamins. These vitamins are referred to by their specific names like B1, B2 etc.
The eight vitamins that comprise a B-complex are

The B-vitamins are water-soluble and are dispersed through the entire body. They are important for cell metabolism. All the B-vitamins that form B-complex must be consumed regularly, as they are not stored in the body and excess quantities are excreted by the body.
B-Vitamins are found in better quantities in whole unprocessed foods. Good vitamin B sources include whole grains, potatoes, bananas, lentils, yeast, liver and bananas. It is important to note that vitamin B12 is not found in a vegan diet.
B-complex is considered necessary to support and also increase the rate of metabolism.
