When people suffer from deficiency of blood in the body it is termed as anemia. This is a very common problem in people and it happens when the red blood cells count decreases in the body. The components of red blood cells consists of hemoglobin- a red coloring matter, protein and these are composed of ‘’heme’’ which is an organic compound.
Hemoglobin is the source by which the red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs and passes it to other parts of the body. Iron and proteins are the main dietary supplies for the formation of hemoglobin. Anemia can be categorized into different types.
Aplastic Anemia- This happens when the body stops making red blood cells that are not enough for the body and this leads to chances of infection.

Pernicious Anemia- Perncious anemia is a condition when the body is unable to absorb vitamin B12 from the food consumed thus causing this problem.
Vitamin Deficiency Anemia- This type of anemia is known as megalobastic anemia. This occurs when there is a deficiency of vitamin B12 or folic acid. Usually when the body makes red blood cells and these cells are not able to transfer the oxygen to other parts of the body and the lungs.
Underlying Diseases- There are certain conditions or diseases that affect the red blood cells from forming. It happens when the kidney fails and it is on one of it is on dialysis; in such a case the kidney is unable to produce hormones that are vital for absorption of iron.
Inherited Blood Disease- One of the inherited diseases is sickle cell anemia and this can be passed on to a person through genes. In this type of the cells are blocked and there is no proper circulation of blood. Thalassemia is the other type of inherited disease. In this when different genes or when the body misses out on certain genes, it affects the way the body can make hemoglobin.
